Introduction to VTigerCRM

VTiger CRM is well-known open source CRM software. Using VTigerCRM, a company can save time and resource on sales and customer management jobs. In addition, the software provides advance statistic and management functions that could benefit to any business. VTiger also include many add-ons such as Outlook and Office plug-in, Thunderbird extension, and even a Customer Portal that can be used as a professional web base support center.

One of the advantages in using VTiger is it is easy to install and use. The installation package of VTiger already includes all related software required for the application to run, such as Apache, MySQL, and PHP. VTigerCRM can be installed and run well on both Window and Linux environment. The steps for a VTiger installation are as follows:

  1. Setup a MySQL database. If necessary, write down your database name, your username and password. You will need to use this information lately.
  2. Download the latest stable version of VTigerCRM from Vtiger.com.You will need only the LAMP version If Apache, MySQL and PHP have been installed.
  3. Extract the downloaded file to a folder on your computer.
  4. Upload all the files to the virtual directory on the server that you intend to run VTiger. The name of the virtual directory is depended on your hosting control panel, but usually it is “public_html” or “www”.
  5. Use your browser to browse to the address you have just uploaded Vtiger’s files.
  6. Follow the instruction on the website to install VTiger.Make sure you enter correct information for MySQL server address, database name, database username and password that you have created in step1.
